The annual WKSA UK Tournament in Liverpool is this weekend! We are looking forward to seeing everyone in our Kuk Sool family there. For anyone who is attending, read on to ensure you arrive fully prepared.
Timetable
Please arrive early for your tournament, at least 30 minutes before the listed start time.. If the previous categories finish ahead of schedule we will begin the next early. Please also listen to announcements and check regularly for any ring allocations or for information on starting times.
Friday 25th November
9:00 | National testing – for all testing Dahn Bo Nims and Black Belts |
13:00 | Demonstration practice – Bring general’s uniform. This is an estimated time so listen out for information at the end of National Testing |

Saturday 26th November

9:00 | Black Belt Workshop – open to all Black Belts, speak to your instructor if you would like to come along. |
National Testing
If you are participating in national testing ensure you arrive with plenty time to get changed, warm up and get ready to start. We advise arriving around half an hour early.
Please ensure you bring:
- Uniform with correct WKSA patches and don’t forget your belt
- All relevant weapons (Please note all weapons should be official WKSA weapons)
- DBNs – staff and wooden sword
- JKNs – staff, WKSA sword (no wooden swords), short staff x2
- KSNs – same as JKNs plus rope and cane
- PSBNs and above – same as JKN+KSNs plus short swords, spear and fans
- Plenty to drink (it gets warm at grading)
- Some easily digestible/high energy snacks
- Any paperwork that needs to be handed in – if you have anything to hand in please arrive extra early, it can be very hectic before we start and you need to ensure this is taken care of before testing begins
If you are a Black Belt and are not testing, please come with your generals uniform to help run the testing.
Promoting Students and Black Belts performing in the Demonstration
Demo practice is usually at around 13:00 after national testing. Listen out for announcements at the end of National Testing.
Black Belt Tournament
For Black Belts who are competing, please arrive and register in plenty time. Remember to keep your competitors wristband on for the next day as this includes spectators entry the next day. Also any Colour Belts who would like to watch Black Belt tournament can collect their competitors wristband early which will gain them entry to spectate. Other spectators may pay to watch on the day, info on this under the spectators heading below.
Remember to bring:
- Both uniforms – regular training uniform and generals for weapons categories
- Weapons – staff and sword for 1st Dahn, short staff and sword for 2nd Dahn, 2x short staff and 2x short sword for 3rd Dahn
- Sparring gear
- Dipped foam head guard
- Dipped foam mitts
- Dipped foam boots
- Gum shield
- Groin guard for males
- Shin guards (optional)
- Drinks to keep hydrated
Colour Belt Tournament
Please arrive and sign-in (at the tables outside the main hall door) in plenty time before your listed start time. Listen closely for ring assignments, these will be as soon as your ring is ready and may not follow rank or age order.
Please remember to bring the following:
- Full uniform with WKSA patches
- Sparring gear
- Dipped foam head guard
- Dipped foam mitts
- Dipped foam boots
- Gum shield
- Groin guard for males
- Shin guards (optional)
- Staff (Brown Belts and DBNs only)
- Drinks to keep hydrated
Spectators
Anyone can come and watch the tournament and Master’s exhibition (including Black Belt promotions), the cost is £10 for adults, £5 for children and under 5s can enter for free. This price allows entry to both days of tournament and the Master’s exhibition. Please keep your wristband for the course of the event to avoid having to pay again.
Demonstration
Anyone participating ensure you arrive early, remember it may start up to half an hour early. Don’t queue outside if you are in the demo or promoting, just come straight in and line up when required.
Spectators: expect there to be a large queue outside and to guarantee a good seat please arrive on time (or early). If you have a competitors or spectators wristband from tournament this allows entry to the demonstration but if you (or friends/family) are only coming to watch the exhibition please allow extra time to pay.
