IMPORTANT: We do not have enough equipment for everyone so please bring your own foam roller (a firm one is best) and a massage ball. These can be bought easily on Amazon or any sport shop.

This workshop will focus on a variety of flexibility and mobility training! It will help you understand how to stretch more effectively and how to increase the range of motion of some important joints.

If you would like to join this workshop, please add your name to the sign up sheet in the dojang or get in touch if you aren’t a KSW Glasgow student!

We will start with soft tissue work with a foam roller and massage ball. Most people just randomly roll around but I will show you some techniques to help your tight, achy muscles and fascia relax. We will also discuss how much time you should be spending on it and how to work it into your everyday life.

We will then look at some mobility exercises and how to increase the range of motion of stiff joints. We will focus on the main ones that most people struggle with – ankles, hips and shoulders. I will help you understand whether you need to stretch or work on the actual joint itself, as sometimes we can spend forever on the wrong technique and see no benefits.

Finally we’ll look at stretching and how to add contract/relax (or PNF) into your stretches as well as using breathing to help you relax more.

This workshop will help you get even more out of the time we already spend stretching at the end of circuit classes!
